RE:bel/reBEL

RE:bel/reBEL puts experienced slam poets and new talent on stage.

Slam poetry has been an established art form for years and KOPERGIETERY is not blind to that. We dedicate an entire evening to the genre and immerse you in today's rebels and voices. Come listen in to the result of our very first slam poetry track led by poet miSoSi (aka Lindah Leah Nyirenda)!

For this Muze Mondial* track, we went in search of young people to fuel our fire. Five people answered the call. With their words, they hold up a mirror to us and themselves. Drop your prejudices because strangers turn out to be soul mates. Loud truths hide in a closed mouth. Let yourself be swept against the current by the WORD ART OF FIVE NEW PODIUM DICHTERS.  

Afterwards, feel free to move from fingersnaps to singing and dancing along during the PERFORMANCES of three experienced slam poets (Giovanni Baudonck, Merlijn Gabel, miSoSi) and the slam debut of theatre atelier youngster Aiko Benaouisse, accompanied by three top musicians.  

Around 9.30pm, we'll hand the mic over to...you! For three minutes, the stage is yours during a free OPEN MIC.

*RE:bel/reBEL is part of the participation project Muze Mondial in which KOPERGIETERY sets up projects with children and young people on various solidarity themes. Muze Mondial is part of the global solidarity policy of the City of Ghent. For ‘RE:bel/reBEL’ we investigated with young people what contemporary activism means and how young people can remember power structures.
