In 2024 and 2025, KOPERGIETERY will roll out several projects under the banner MUZE MONDIAL. Muze Mondial is part of the City of Ghent's global solidarity policy, in which the city takes initiatives to combat global inequality locally - in Ghent - and to work towards a more just, equal world. We realise Muze Mondial with the support of the city.
KOPERGIETERY will work within Muze Mondial on various solidarity themes tailored to children and young people. We are setting up ‘Nieuweling’ (Newcomer), a stage project with young people from Ghent and young newcomers on the theme of world citizenship. With ‘(be)ZOEK DE ANDER’ we let young people - by means of self-made podcasts - learn more about organisations such as Amnesty International or Amal to increase awareness of poverty, human rights or inequality. Together with Ghent schools, both primary and secondary, we are developing a musical-theatrical project around decolonisation. 'REBEL REBEL' will be spoken word with young people. What does contemporary activism mean and how can young people remember power structures? Finally, we are working towards a digital participation project on emotional vulnerability in young people.
All projects culminate in a presentation moment. This can be a public closing or show moment, but just as easily a video or installation. For instance, ‘Nieuweling’ will be presented on 14 and 15 December in KG Rabot. November 2025 we will unlock all this within a city-wide festival in which all children and young people, organisations and schools involved will participate, and where there will be room for (international) performances.
