No one is as smart alone, as everyone together.
A truth as big as a cow.
But a cow is a herd animal.
And is docile observation the way to go?
Who then grazes whom?

The surprising 'SET-UP' combines circus, acrobatics, course, theatre and scenography into a total experience for families. In 'SET-UP' you don't have to sit still (but you can), you don't have to just watch (but you can) or you don't have to be silent (or at least not always). In SET-UP it's up to you, along with everyone else.

For this show, theatre-maker Michiel Soete and scenographer GIO, creators of family bricolage park 'Park Katrol' (KOPERGIETERY & Bolwerk), circus artists Ward Mortier & Thomas Decaesstecker (together Be Flat) and actress Patricia Kargbo signed on.

ABOUT THE MAKERS

Michiel Soete works as a theatre maker, performer, set or lighting designer for the likes of Theatre Antigone, Laika, Kaaitheater, Villanella e.a. In 2018, he created 'Park Katrol' for KOPERGIETERY with Giovani Vanhoenacker and Bolwerk. A year later, he starred in the visual kindergarten show 'plasticBERTRAND' and even later he signed for the set design for Kopergietery's 'The Pale Baron'.

Set designer Giovani Vanhoenacker (GIO) started as a set designer for Theatre Antigone in 2000 and not much later for theatre houses such as KOPERGIETERY, Lazarus, Muziektheater LOD and NTGent. For KOPERGIETERY, he conceived and realised 'Park Katrol', a genuine tinkerer’s playground for families, together with Bolwerk in 2018. In 2023, he signed for the scenography of the family opera 'KRUISTOCHT' (coprod. Opera Ballet Vlaanderen). Besides his many scenographic work, GIO is also an interior designer and visual artist.

Be Flat is a circus company from Ghent founded by Ward Mortier and Thomas Decaesstecker. Together, they find their source of creativity in combining acrobatic circus with urban-sports, dance and music with public space as their playground.

Patricia Kargbo performs for various theatre companies such as Cie Cecilia, Arsenal/Lazarus, Antigone and Camping Sunset. She is co-founder of the young theatre collective Atelier GLIP. She featured in the tasted Belgian TV series 'Chantal' (VRT) as Felke Debruyne.
