The success of a performance depends entirely on the audience’s engagement. Naturally, we need your help to achieve this. Good preparation works wonders. That is why we ask you to set aside sufficient time and space to discuss the performance in class, both before and after the theatre visit.

- GUEST PERFORMANCES
If you’re coming to see a guest performance, we’ll email you (where available) the information pack provided to us by the visiting company.
- FEEDBACK
We always appreciate receiving feedback from your pupils and/or supervisors after they have seen the performance. Both the creators and performers of the show and the school liaison officers at KOPERGIETERY look forward to this. Please do not hesitate to send it to us – in whatever form you choose!
CODE OF CONDUCT
Attending a theatre performance involves a few dos and don’ts that pupils sometimes haven’t quite got the hang of (yet). It’s important that they understand that in a stage performance, people are on stage performing live. Actors, dancers and performers can hear, see and feel the audience’s reaction.
May we ask you to go through the following guidelines with your pupils?
- We do not take photographs during the performance.
There are plenty of lovely photos of the show available on this website anyway. If you’d like to take a specific photo, for example with the cast, please ask in advance via the schools’ programme. We’ll be happy to see how we can help. - Mobile phones must be switched off.
- Spontaneous reactions to what is happening on stage during the performance are certainly fine, as long as they remain respectful towards the performers. We also show respect for the audience around us by not causing a disturbance, so that they can enjoy the performance in a pleasant atmosphere.
- We do not drink and/or eat in the theatre auditorium or at the performance venue (unless this is requested as part of the performance ;-).

LANGUAGUE
KOPERGIETERY uses icons to indicate how much language is used in a performance. You can easily see what each icon means on the website by hovering over it. We’ve also explained them below:
0: no words
1: the performance contains very little text; understanding the language is not essential
2: the performance contains text; understanding the language is helpful but not essential
3: the performance contains (quite a lot to a lot of) text; understanding the language is essential to follow the story
AGE
We specify a recommended age for each performance. For school performances, we also specify in the school programme which school years the performance is suitable for.
ARRIVAL AT THE VENUE
No later than one week before the performance date, you will receive further information regarding arrival times and any useful tips from our schools coordinator. The venue for the performance can be found on this website (programme) and in the contract.
We ask that you arrive at least fifteen minutes before the performance starts. This allows plenty of time to put school bags away, hang up coats, use the toilet if necessary, and settle in. Together, we’ll ensure that everyone can take their seats calmly in the auditorium, which enhances the viewing experience. We’d like to ask teachers to sit amongst the pupils.
Our school coordinator and volunteers will guide you to your seats in the auditorium or the performance venue. If you have any specific requirements (such as the need for an interpreter, or if you are hard of hearing or a wheelchair user), please let the school coordinator know in advance.
TRY-OUTS & PREVIEWS
KOPERGIETERY regularly organises try-outs for school classes for new productions. These try-outs usually take place anywhere from two weeks to a few days before the premiere. We invite classes at short notice to attend the work-in-progress and provide feedback to the creators.
Attending a try-out is the perfect way for you, as a teacher, to prepare. Teachers are also welcome to attend the dress rehearsal (the final rehearsal before the premiere) to prepare for the school visit.
