HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS

Since KOPERGIETERY (then known as Speelteater Gent) was founded in 1978, we have been running theatre workshops for children and young people aged 8 to 18. As our weekly workshops are fully booked and to give even more young people the chance to experience our workshops, we regularly organise workshops during the school holidays.

Each season, around 150 children and young people work together in small groups in the weekly workshops, under the guidance of theatre teachers, directors, musicians and/or choreographers. We do the same in the holiday workshops, only on a smaller scale.

In our workshops, we do not work according to a ‘method’ or an educational programme. Workshops are places of creation. Places where children and young people, together with a teacher/artist, get to work in a vibrant and enriching process. Mutual inspiration and the development of one’s own potential are what it’s all about, as well as gaining insights. Insights into what theatre can be, and into what is happening in the world.

We strive to organise our workshops to be as inclusive as possible.

UPCOMING: SUMMER WORKSHOPS

WHEN: Wednesday 1 to Sunday 5 July 2026

LOCATION: Het Pand (Onderbergen 1, Ghent)

KOPERGIETERY is opening the doors of Het Pand for a summer workshop! Every day, you’ll take part in a two-hour theatre workshop led by a different creator each time, who will introduce you to their artistic practice. Sometimes we’ll start with text. Sometimes with movement. Sometimes a mix of both. Together, we’ll explore, experiment and make space for imagination. You don’t need to bring anything or prepare in advance. Just come as you are, with a desire to play, create and surprise yourself.

The participating artists/teachers are: 
Hendrik Lebon, Axelle Verkempinck, Tim Stevens, Ilja Van Autreve, Charlotte Durnajkin, Johan Knuts, Anaïs Jansen, Tim Van Nuffel

++ WORKSHOP for 8–10-year-olds (2 groups)
each session from 10am to 12pm
++ WORKSHOP for 11–12-year-olds (1 group)
each session from 10am to 12pm
++ WORKSHOP for 13–14-year-olds (1 group)
each session from 2pm to 4pm
++ WORKSHOP 14+ (1 group)
Every session from 2pm to 4pm

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
PRICE for the 5-session workshop series: €90. UiTPaS (Gent) reduced rate available.
We expect you to attend all workshop days during the working hours of the group you have registered for.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

KOPERGIETERY regularly organises theatre workshops during the school holidays. Our holiday workshops are aimed at anyone who wants to discover or explore theatre in all its forms and explore their own imagination under the guidance of professional creators and teachers. The holiday workshops are primarily aimed at children and young people who cannot attend our weekly workshops.
